Scripture: 1 Peter 1:13-15
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy so be ye holy in all manner of conversation.
1. "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"
2. To live with holiness and to give glory to God
(a) It's not only to living morally. It's more than that.
Yes, you should live morally but, it's not only that. "Holy" means to be able to differentiate you among all. E.g. jesus. He's totally different - the Holy Other. God is perfect, while humans are flawed. So He's different. He's holy. Just in "item" sense. Items are holy because they are used to give praise to God.
Similarly, "Moral" has a different sense too. To many, "Moral" revolves around "People". To be responsible to others for your actions. However, in this sense, "Moral" revolves around "God". To be responsible to God for your actions. That's why we say, It's not only to live morally.
(b) Holy living is ...
i) Remorse sincerely - Holiness in Christ
ii) Give yourself to God - differentiate yourselves (holy)
iii) You're not complete, you know. But pace towards your goal - living in holiness.
Start by improving yourself everyday - 'Growing towards God'
e.g. You may gospel, you may donate money for church development, you may work for church. So people can differentiate you because they will think "Oh. that person is really different".
3. How to command your "holy living"?
(a) Prepare your heart, nerves, focus on hoping on the grace that have not behold on you
Remove the barrieers on your path
e.g. of barriers(in life);those that makes you find it tough on committing in Christ: Relationship?
(b) Leave the ignorant life you had in the past
When you're ignorant, you live any way you want. And the way you want it may be a waste of time, or living sinfully.
(c) Be obedient child
If not, we will not be able to apply what we know in our life. It's sad. Cause you know, yet you don't listen and obey. Then you fall out.
Remember, only a holy life can give glory to God.
